At one of my old jobs, I hade to deal with a lot of 16-18 yr olds and I got to tell you...it was exhausting. To the point my nickname is still Grandma.

Anyway, one of them, this little prima donna mama brat (you know the type, their snapchat is nothing but them fast forward making duck faces like a mini Kardashian), gets on my case. The discussion was relationships and someone asked me how many relationships I've had. I answered honestly and said zero. 

Well, prima donna had an issue with that. "You've never had a relationship? Not even just to fuck around? You never smoke weed? Never snuck out?" She's just going on and on. At this point I'm just getting annoyed. Then she says, "You really have never lived have you?"

This is where I have one of those moments I'm never truly proud of... I SNAPPED!

"Haven't lived?" I went off. "Lets take a look at the evidence of that shall we? I swam with wild dolphins in the Gulf of Mexico and flown in a helicopter over the Grand Canyon. I've hiked mountains and road rivers to lakes. That was before I even hit the double digits. I've seen ancient dwellings and marveled at art that you couldn't even begin to understand. I've met stars from all walks of life. Been surrounded by a loving family and friends while you smoke. And you think living is party hard and yolo shit? Tell me again, who is it who hasn't lived?"

Needless to say, that shut her up real quick and she left the conversation. The other kids I was talking began to talk about all the things they have done and the things they have always wanted to do.

Don't let small minds give you heavy burdens.

I know most people will never be lucky enough to do everything they want, but that doesn't mean you haven't lived. But it all got me thinking really about all the things I have done, the places I've been, and the people I've met. So I decided to make lists.

Things I've Done:

Swam with wild dolphins. Flown in a helicopter. Bungee jumped. Sky swing. Hiked mountains. Sang on several different stages. Came face to face with a moose.
